New Zealanders are known the world over as Kiwis, however our namesake is under threat. Sadly, the kiwi population has been declining at an alarming rate due to predators. On average nearly 27 kiwi are dying per week, that’s nearly 4 per day. As such, we have partnered with Kiwis for kiwi – a New Zealand not for profit that is working to reverse the decline in kiwi numbers – to help save this quirky and amazing bird which we hero in our brand logo.

When you enjoy your cup of Ti Ora, you’re helping contribute directly to the kōhanga programme that Kiwis for kiwi are using to build new kiwi populations in predator-free environments. We’re proud that Ti Ora is not only a delight for your taste-buds, but is also helping rebuild the future population of kiwi.

We’re proud to say our blends are all carbon neutral. This means we measure the environmental impact of making and transporting our blends and balance this out to achieve a net zero carbon footprint (which is a fancy way of saying we don’t add any extra CO2 into the environment). We do this by partnering with EKOS, a New Zealand-based nonprofit that develops zero carbon projects by cultivating indigenous forests in NZ and the Pacific Islands.

You can also do your own bit to reduce your carbon footprint with every cuppa. Simply boil the right amount of water for your cup rather than the whole kettle. Tiny actions like these really do make a difference.

All our green and black tea in our Ti Ora blends are from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms. This means that 100% of the tea leaves in our blends are grown and harvested on farms that are required to meet environmental, social and economic sustainability criteria. Tea is so much tastier when you know it’s good for the planet and people who made it.

Did you know our tea bags are made from a renewable plant-based resource derived from corn-starch so not only do our pyramid tea bags do a great job a diffusing flavoursome brew, so you can rest assure you are contributing to your community and planet while enjoying your cuppa.

In addition to our Ti Ora teas being responsibly sourced we are also proud that our Ti Ora pouches are accepted by the Soft Plastics recycling scheme in NZ.
